Referat Aleksandry Kuligowskiej i Arkadiusza Klimowicza „Echoes of Oppression: Tracing Violence Through Epigraphic Narratives”, 16.09.2025

15–17 września 2025 r. na Wydziale Historii UW odbyła się konferencja „Histories of Violence in Central and Eastern Europe. A Comparative Perspective”. Aleksandra Kuligowska i Arkadiusz Klimowicz wygłosili podczas niej referat „Echoes of Oppression: Tracing Violence Through Epigraphic Narratives”.

Abstrakt wystąpienia: This paper presents the reconstruction of inscriptions from Security Office prison walls using advanced computer-based methods. In the absence of surviving archival records, these inscriptions constitute the only available evidence of the violence inflicted on detainees. Through interdisciplinary collaboration between archaeology and history, previously undocumented traces of violence have been identified, offering new insights into the conditions of political imprisonment and expanding the scope of historical scholarship.
